Manchester City Football Club is a professional football club in Manchester

Manchester City Football Club is a professional football club in Manchester, England. It plays in the Premier League and has won the FA Cup four times: in 1955, 1956, 1971 and 2008. The club has also won two League Cups (1968 and 1993) and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1980–81). Manchester City was formed as St Mark's Church Sunday School Football Club in 1908 by members of the clergy after they determined that an amateur team would be more conducive than the local professional teams available at that time. This decision was prompted by a dispute between gentlemen amateurs who wished to play with professionals while others opposed this move believing that it would lead to better results on field. St Mark's Church School FC remained amateur until 1925 when they entered into negotiations with other local clubs to merge their operation with theirs due to financial problems caused by World War One which had limited players' ability to make money off their skillset during such conflict years
